Ruth

Ruth qualified as a Secondary Science teacher in 2012 after gaining a first class Biology Degree. Although Ruth specialises in Biology at ALevel, she has taught all three sciences to GCSE for 11 years. She has also taught a wide range of students, for example those with English as an additional language and special educational needs, and builds a professional and positive rapport quickly.

Outside of lessons Ruth has led extracurricular eco groups and loves exploring sustainability and ecology. She has held a variety of extra responsibility roles alongside being a teacher including being an Assessment Coordinator, Digital Technology in Teaching Leader and Assistant Leader of department. Ruth has also worked as an examiner associate assessing national GCSE papers.

In 2019 Ruth started tutoring individuals and small groups of 14 to 16 year olds to support their school studies and in preparation for exams. She taught remotely during COVID and tutors online making her very experienced engaging learners online as well as in person. She has found tutoring very fulfilling, being able to focus on a smaller number of learners and drive their learning forward. She is passionate about science and how meaningful, relevant and exciting science learning can be when taught in the right way.
