Christine

Christine is a very experienced Primary school teacher. She qualified in Primary education in 1996, then worked in a North Yorkshire Primary School for 7 years. During this time she taught Key Stage One and Lower Key Stage 2, and was subject lead for History and Geography. She qualified as a Special Needs Co-ordinator in 2001, and worked as a SENCo for several years, leading small groups supporting children with additional needs.

Christine then moved to Spain and worked in a large International School for a time, specialising in teaching Art, teaching children up to 13 in intervention groups and teaching a Year 2 class.

She moved back to the UK, had her first child and enjoyed the challenge of supply teaching for a few years, developing strong skills in adaptability and working across the full primary age range. Most recently, she has worked at a school in central York, teaching across the age range, teaching intervention groups as well as being subject lead for MFL and Art. She has recently trained in the “Little Wandle” phonics scheme, and in Maths Mastery. She particularly enjoyed working in Early Years and Year One regularly, developing a knowledge of the Early Years curriculum. She also worked on a pilot scheme  in Year 6 for ArtUK in developing visual literacy.

Christine is a calm, positive and creative teacher. She has a wide experience of teaching and has excellent assessment skills and is quick to develop relationships and to understand a child’s needs and interests. She has a great sense of fun and strives to make learning fun and creative. She has worked in many settings and has a wide knowledge of current ideas and schemes of work. She is very excited to be part of the Leap in 2 Learning team
