Laura

Laura qualified as a primary school teacher in 2010 and completed her NQT year in a large inner city primary school with a year 1 class. Laura then moved on to a larger school and extended her experience across Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2 and Early Years Foundation Stage as an internal supply teacher. During Laura’s time here she developed an excellent foundation in the national curriculum across all year groups
and had the opportunity to work closely with children who spoke English as an additional language and children with different special educational needs.

Laura then moved on to teach classes in years 3 and 4 for 6 years and had the opportunity to be the subject lead for History and Art. After having her first child Laura began tutoring her first students privately and quickly saw how much progress the students made and the impact that was made with 1:1 support. The benefit of teaching to the interests of each student and catering to their individual needs enables them to build their confidence and develop a lifelong love for learning. Laura is very much a people person and builds an excellent rapport with her students, allowing them to feel comfortable and relaxed whilst ensuring the learning is at their level. Laura prides herself on her listening skills and always takes the time to try and understand how her students feel in order to help them in any area they are struggling with.

Laura has a wealth of experience within the primary age range and has had the opportunity to work in a variety of different schools across Leeds and North Yorkshire, this has resulted in experience with many different teaching styles, schemes of work and teaching practices. Laura is able to quickly identify the next
steps for each child whilst being aware of what objectives are on the national curriculum to cater her teaching to the individual.
