Kerry

After a previous life working as a development chemist, Kerry decided it was time to commit to her life long dream of becoming a teacher. Kerry qualified in 2001 and has never looked back. Since then she has worked within a small village school teaching mixed ages classes across the primary years. As a result Kerry has built up an astounding knowledge of the primary curriculum as well as how to support different age groups with their next steps. Kerry held the position of Science Coordinator and worked as part of a team to write the North Yorkshire science plans for the new curriculum. In addition, Kerry has been a Maths lead teacher, EYFS coordinator and a teacher governor.
Kerry is a parent of a dyslexic child and has been keen to learn how to support both her own child’s needs as well as those within her class with dyslexia and other learning difficulties. This has led Kerry to invest her time in attending a multitude of training courses and has completed many of the National Autistic Society training courses in her own time. Her level of determination to have the most up to date knowledge in this field has enabled Kerry to help children on the autistic spectrum with their educational needs.
Kerry began tutoring online during the first lockdown and enjoyed supporting children whilst having more time to focus on individualised support, giving timely feedback to parents. This led to Kerry exploring private tutoring as a career and she has never looked back. Her journey with Leap in2 Learning has gone from strength to strength and her many wonderful testimonials are just a small snapshot into the difference she makes to both children and parents.
“Kerry has been tutoring our 9 year old. We asked Kerry to focus on building our child’s confidence in some of the core basics and we are really pleased with the approach she has taken to date. Kerry is punctual, has been kind and is showing great patience with our daughter.” – Emma
